Bearing Off in Backgammon

Once all your checkers are home you start bearing them off. The first to remove all 15 wins.

When can you bear off?

You may begin only when all 15 checkers are in your home board (points 1–6) and you have none on the bar.

Using the dice and overage

You bear off from the point shown by the die. If that point is empty and you have checkers further back, you must move them instead.

If a die is higher than your farthest checker, you may use the overage to bear that checker off.
