Gammon and Backgammon

A gammon is when the opponent bears off no checkers and loses double. A backgammon is a triple loss. Here is how each works.

Gammon (double)

If you bear off all 15 checkers while your opponent has borne off none, it is a gammon, worth double.

Backgammon (triple)

If, in addition, the opponent still has a checker on the bar or in your home board, it is a backgammon, worth triple.
